about

Binaural recordings so please wear headphones. Thank you.

The recordings are intricate dripping of fog on autumn leaves happening early morning inside a park in Bad Berka. Drones of car engines and subtle birds can be heard in the background. Occasional aircrafts can also be heard above the listener. Woodpeckers chopping off tree barks can be heard in all 3 tracks.

These recordings were carried out at Kurpark Bad Berka, Thuringia State, Germany between 5 and 8am on 27th October, 2023.

The origins of the Kurpark Bad Berka go back to Germany's most famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. With the opening of a sulfur bath in 1813, he also submitted proposals for the design of a park, which thus became part of the intellectual movement in Weimar at the time. This happened at a time when people were rediscovering nature and prioritising their own well-being. You can still explore the traces of romanticism today. Natural areas with rare flora as well as self-created areas invite you to walk and linger on an area of 11 hectares. The healing water that gushes out of the Goethe fountain is very popular. Since 1835, after the sulfur water dried up, it has been used for beneficial drinking cures.
