Field recordings of the Ilm River in Bad Berka in Autumn season 2023 tested with the Lewitt LCT 040 small diaphragm cardioid stereo pairs in an A-B 36cm ITD configuration. Ambient noise is greatly reduced while subtle textures of the river are soft sounding.

A-B stereophony / microphone configuration is a term used to describe two spaced omnidirectional microphones. The spacing can be between 17cm or maximum 36cm. This technique of field recording is suitable for large spaces because it provides a pleasant reproduction of the reverberant sound field as well as useful spatial information. This setup takes advantage of the omnidirectional (pressure) microphones' rich low-frequency response.
